Water Pipe Repairs in the Works

Police Chief Paul Lucero opened the March 4, 2024, meeting of the Mountainair Town Council with a discussion of three breaking and entering cases, all in residential properties.

Mayor Peter Nieto discussed the upcoming Hall of Excellence event and the election of the Pinto Bean Queen. He also mentioned installing wireless cameras on town properties. He discussed hiring a micro-surfacing contractor for road improvements.

Councilmember Annette Padilla announced that the town had opened up a meeting place next to the Mountainair Police Station that would have computers and training available for residents.

Public Works Supervisor Carl Archuleta brought the primary matter for the evening before the town council. Supervisor Archuleta sought to contract with a business identified as TLC to burst a clogged water line between two manholes.

Supervisor Archuleta said that, due to the project's location, it was likely that Third Street and Corbett Street would be closed during repairs. No specific date for the repairs has been set. The town council unanimously approved contracting with TLC.

Subsequently, the Mountainair Town Council moved on to business related to the Manzano Valley Chamber of Commerce. The town council unanimously voted in favor of appointing TJ Lopez to the chamber's board of directors. The town council tasked him with the responsibility to report back to the town council on the chamber's activities.

The meeting closed without public comment or comment from the mayor and town council members.
