Before the walk, you have a great opportunity to learn about dog etiquette and safe dog walking tips and get to meet the BARK ambassador for the Friends of Mountainair Animal Shelter (FOMAS), Jake. The hike itself is a beautiful look down at nearly the entirety of the Estancia Valley along with the historical ruins at Quarai. If you’re a photographer, bring along your circular polarizer. All participants should bring water for themselves and any leashed four-legged friends along with whatever you use to make sure your pets "leave no trace."
