Winter Weather Advisory in Effect for the Estancia Valley Through Early Thursday

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Estancia Valley, including communities from Moriarty to Mountainair, effective until 5:00 AM MST Thursday, December 4, 2025.
Forecasters expect 2 to 4 inches of snow across the valley, with impacts beginning Wednesday evening and persisting overnight. Snowfall may be moderate at times, leading to snow-packed and icy road conditions, particularly on rural routes and along US-40, where freezing surfaces can quickly create hazardous travel.
Expected Impacts:
- Icy and snow-packed roads, especially before dawn
- Reduced visibility during heavier snowfall bands
- Difficult travel on I-40, NM-41, NM-60, and surrounding county roads
Drivers are urged to slow down, increase following distance, and use caution, especially during early-morning commutes. Even light accumulations in the Estancia Valley can create dangerous patches of black ice due to overnight cooling.
Road condition updates are available through NM Roads at 511, 1-800-432-4269, or nmroads.com.
