Willard Trash Rates Rise 6.5 Percent Under Contract Adjustment
Trash collection rates for Village of Willard residents and businesses increased effective August 1, 2026, following an annual price adjustment allowed under the village's solid waste contract with Universal Waste Systems.
What Changed
In a June 15, 2026 letter to Village Clerk Cassandra Garcia, UWS Governmental Affairs and Contract Compliance representative Rheganne Vaughn notified the village of the increase, citing a clause in the franchise agreement that permits an annual rate adjustment tied to an industry-specific Consumer Price Index. UWS said that index rose 6.5 percent for the twelve-month period ending in August, and the company applied that increase across its full rate schedule for Willard customers.
New Monthly Rates
- 96-gallon polycart, residential: $22.47
- Additional polycart: $16.67
- 96-gallon polycart, commercial: $35.75
- 2-cubic-yard bin: $60.67
- 4-cubic-yard bin: $117.21
- 6-yard bin: $175.83
- 8-yard bin: $240.23
- 30-cubic-yard roll-off: $421.09
What Residents Should Know
The increase is not a one-time surcharge. It is a contractual mechanism built into the village's waste hauling agreement, meaning residents can expect similar CPI-based adjustments in future years as long as the current franchise agreement with UWS remains in place.
