Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Northwestern Torrance County

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in effect until 9:15 p.m. MDT on Sunday, May 4, 2025, for portions of northwestern Torrance County, along with Bernalillo County and southwestern Santa Fe County.

As of 8:29 p.m., radar indicated a severe thunderstorm near Cedar Grove, located about 12 miles northwest of Moriarty, moving north at 20 mph. The primary hazard from this storm is hail up to the size of quarters.

Expected Impacts:

  • Hail damage to vehicles is likely.
  • Torrential rainfall may cause flash flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Impacted Roadways:

  • Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 182 and 193
