Celebrating the Park's Fossil Finds with Special Programming — Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument

Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026 Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Location: Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument Headquarters, 105 South Ripley, Mountainair, NM (off US Highway 60) Details: Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument hosts a free day of special programming celebrating the monument's fossil discoveries, including a varanopid — an early mammal relative that lived approximately 275 million years ago — on display daily at the visitor center. Programs include Junior Ranger Activities for children (9 AM – 4 PM), artist showcases by the park's 2024 Artists-in-Residence (9 AM – 4 PM), and a public presentation by NPS paleontologist Dr. Adam Marsh at the Manzano Mountain Art Council at 11 AM. Admission is free.
